A Testimonial On The Efficacy of BodyTalk

“As a practicing pediatrician and holistic physician, I have had the privilege of evaluating and treating many children and families over the years. BodyTalk continues to be one of the primary treatment modalities I use in my practice because it is effective, gentle, without dangerous side-effects, and because IT WORKS!”

Focus on Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil

Don’t Put It In, Put It On

Cut back on your sugar intake for better health . . . but don’t let your sugar go to waste!  Sugar can heal your cuts, scrapes, burns, and even large wounds without leaving a scar. It kills germs and repairs tissue better than any antiseptic or disinfectant on the market.1   Add a bit of water to make a paste, apply to the wound and cover with gauze.

Cheap & Green Laundry

Save money and use fewer harsh chemicals by making your own laundry detergent.  You’ll find lots of recipes online for liquid and powder detergents you can make at home.  Here’s my favorite:

Powdered Laundry Detergent

Finely grate:

            1 bar Fels Naptha soap*

Add:

1 cup 20 Mule Team Borax**

            1 cup Washing soda**

Mix well and store in an airtight container.  For large loads, put 2 tablespoons in washing machine, then add ½ cup washing soda (Optional:  a few drops of your favorite essential oil can be  used as well.).  Add 2 inches hot water and swish detergent a bit with a piece of laundry to begin dissolving process, then wash as usual.

*Fels Naptha is available at Johnnie Chuoke’s Hardware on NW Military Dr.

**Borax and Washing soda are in the laundry aisle of most grocery stores.

Looking for a terrific less-toxic spot remover?  Rub Fels Naptha soap on the spot.  This is great for dirty clothes that won’t be washed right away.  Works on grease too!

Something to think about:

Tonglen:  The Key to Realizing Interconnectedness, by Pema Chodron

“In its essence, this practice is:  when anything is painful or undesirable, breathe it in.  In other words, you don’t resist it.  You surrender to yourself, you acknowledge who you are, you honor yourself.  As unwanted feelings and emotions arise, you actually breathe them in and connect with what all humans feel.  We all know what it is to feel pain in its many guises.

“You breathe in for yourself, in the sense that pain is a personal and real experience, but simultaneously there’s no doubt that you’re developing your kinship with all beings.  If you can know it in yourself, you can know it in everyone.  If you’re in a jealous rage and you have the courage to breathe it in rather than blame it on someone else, the arrow you feel in your heart will tell you that there are people all over the world who are feeling exactly what you’re feeling.  This practice cuts through culture, economic status, intelligence, race, religion.  People everywhere feel pain—jealousy, anger, being left out, feeling lonely.  Everybody feels it in the painful way you feel it.  The story lines vary, but the underlying feeling is the same for us all.

“By the same token, if you feel some sense of delight—if you connect with what for you is inspiring, opening, relieving, relaxing—you breathe it out, you give it away, you send it out to everyone else.  Again, it’s very personal.  It starts with your feeling of delight, your feeling of connecting with a bigger perspective, your feeling of relief or relaxation.  If you’re willing to drop the story line, you feel exactly what all other human beings feel.  It’s shared by all of us.  In this way if we do the practice personally and genuinely, it awakens our sense of kinship with all beings.”
