Going Outside Is Good For Your Health
New research out of Japan shows that spending time in nature has many benefits:
*Lowers blood pressure
*Lowers pulse rate
*Reduces levels of the stress hormone, cortisol
*Increases natural killer cell levels (the main component of the immune system)
So drink your morning coffee outside, or grab your lunch and eat it on a park bench. Find a way to make it happen and you’ll feel better for it.
Frankincense For Arthritis?
Extracts of Frankincense have long been used by Somali people to relieve painful Arthritis. Scientists at Cardiff University in England have now learned how the extracts reduce inflammation. Learn more: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/06/110621121316.htm
Frankincense resin and oil are available through Young Living.
Cheap & Green
Replace your usual abrasive powder with a more gentle homemade scrub from Ken Hoyt. Combine:
1 cup baking soda
½ cup castile soap (I like Dr. Bronner’s)
5 drops antibacterial essential oil (optional) such as lavender, lemon or Thieves blend.
Stir until it begins to be thick like frosting. Add more soap if necessary. Scoop a bit of the mix onto a sponge and scrub the sink or tub, then rinse. Store in an airtight container for up to a year. My favorite combination is to use Dr. Bronner’s Rose Castile Soap with Grapefruit essential oil, which is antiseptic and disinfecting.
*For tough jobs, sprinkle a bit of Borax into the sink or tub first, then use the homemade scrub as directed. (20 Mule Team Borax is available in the laundry section of grocery stores.)
Two BodyTalk Access Opportunities in San Antonio
Take a BodyTalk Access class to learn five techniques you can use on yourself and your family every day to bring balance to the body for better health.
*The first two techniques balance the brain, so that the brain is turned on and communicating appropriately.
*The next two techniques balance the metabolic processes of the body and the entire immune system, helping the body be more resilient to stress and external forces, such as germs and viruses. *The final technique helps to balance posture and the physical structure of the body, thus improving range-of-motion, flexibility and overall coordination of the muscles, tendons and ligaments.
Classes are available on a Saturday, November 12 from 9 am-5 pm or split into two evenings, January 18 & 19 from 5:50-8:30 pm. Learn more at www.BodyTalkSystem.com
15 Minutes Of Exercise A Day = 3 More Years of Life
Imagine that today is the last day of your life. . . Or not, if you do something simple to give yourself three more years. The latest issue of The Lancet covers a study that included 416,000 participants followed over 13 years. So if you’ve been needing a bit more incentive to lace up those shoes and head out the door, this may be it: http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/08/16/us-exercise-taiwan-idUSTRE77E69L20110816
You Can Add Those 15 Minutes While At The Office
Too busy to exercise? What if you could actually work out while you’re at work? Maybe these twelve exercises will suit you. They’re rated by difficulty, sweat level and humiliation factor if somebody walks in on you exercising. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/health/workout-at-work/?wpisrc=nl_health
Is The Way That You Breathe Affecting Your Health?
Robert Litman has been teaching the Buteyko Breathing Method in San Antonio for several years. Until I took the class, I had always assumed it was for people with asthma, and while it is extremely helpful for asthmatics, it is also a class that anyone could take to improve their health. Take the attached quiz to see if you should sign up for one of the classes being taught this month. There’s also a free lecture you can attend on Thursday, October 13 at Whole Foods. Lift Your Mood With A Protocol From Gary Young
First shared in 1994, this combination of four essential oils blends has made a big difference in many people’s lives.
1.Place one drop of Valor on the inside of your left wrist. Hold the inside of your right wrist to your left wrist for a few minutes. This step balances the body.
2.Apply a drop of Harmony to your solar plexus (the area just above your belly button) to calm your mind and promote positive feelings.
3.Apply one drop of Joy to the area above your heart. This step helps bring happiness to your mind and body.
4.Place a single drop of White Angelica in the palm of your hand and rub your hands together. Lightly brush both hands over your head, face, shoulders, chest, and down the rest of your body as though applying an angelic shield.
*Some people take these four essential oils internally for Depression and swear by the results. (1-4 drops of each oil, two times per day.)
Everyone Can Benefit From The Chi Machine
Christine Carlo, an actress from General Hospital, shared the following:
"It wasn't until I started using the chi machine that I noticed how sluggish I was. The Chi machine revitalizes and gives me energy. I'm not as tired as I was. I have less headaches and I find that it works well for cramping muscles and relieving back pain. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is in search of the Fountain of Youth."

October is Non-GMO Month
The United States does not require that companies inform us if food that we buy contains Genetically-Modified Organisms (GMO’s), which are defined as:
DNA from one species to be injected into another species in a laboratory, creating combinations of plant, animal, bacteria, and viral genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods.
About 30 countries restrict or ban the production of GMO’s. If you would like to avoid GMO’s or learn what products are GMO-Free, visit: http://www.nongmoproject.org
Something to think about:
Meditation does not involve trying to change your thinking by thinking some more. It involves watching thought itself.
