Well Child Visits
We often assume that the tests a pediatrician orders during a routine checkup are necessary for our child, but educating yourself about the tests can save money and reduce unnecessary screenings:
1) Hearing and Vision tests: Schools perform the same tests regularly without charge, so check with the school nurse to find out how often your child is tested there, then decide.
2) Some pediatricians require a urine specimen be given for testing. They are checking for protein in the urine to evaluate kidney function. I questioned the necessity of this test and our pediatrician said a healthy child doesn’t really need to be tested.
Focus on Balsam Fir
Idaho Balsam Fir (Abies Balsamea) essential oil has been prized through the ages for its medicinal effects and its ability to soothe muscular and rheumatic pain. Like other conifer oils, its aroma is grounding, stimulating to the mind and relaxing to the body.
*Inhale Balsam Fir straight from the bottle or diffuse regularly to combat panic attacks.
*Combine with Frankincense to reduce the size of tumors.
*Mix equal parts Balsam Fir and vegetable oil to make a therapeutic massage oil, then apply directly for muscle pain or spasms. (Balsam Fir is one of the ingredients in Deep Relief Roll-on.)
*An anti-inflammatory, it can be helpful when applied to arthritic joints.
*Use it to loosen a dry, tight cough. Dilute with oil and massage onto the chest and throat.

Cancer Treatment
We’ve all heard people say, “I’d never put myself through chemotherapy,” but most of us don’t actually have an alternate plan. What would you do if you were diagnosed with cancer today? Maybe you’d vote for chemo, maybe you wouldn’t. There are many alternative options, but what are they? Maybe you’d choose surgery. What if there are things you can do before surgery to make cancer recurrence less likely after surgery? We all need to know our options, so we feel good about our decisions, rather than operating out of fear. A book I finished recently, Knockout: Interviews with Doctors Who Are Curing Cancer and How to Prevent Getting It In The First Place, by Suzanne Somers, opens the door to some of the options.

Chi Machine
Helen W. shares her experience with the Sun Ancon Chi Machine:
“Forty years ago I was in a bad automobile accident that literally crushed the lower four discs of my spine. I have always had extreme pain and trouble sleeping after the smallest bit of exercise like gardening or mowing the lawn. After six weeks of using the Chi Machine, I can do all these things again. While I am on the Chi Machine, I sleep like a baby! I am so thankful that I am again able to do the things I love.”
I love my Chi Machine! Let me know if you’d like to try one for yourself to see how much better you can feel.
Something to think about:
“I don’t mean to diminish anyone’s pain, physical or emotional, but there comes a point in life when we’re all lugging something around, whether it’s a bum drumstick or a lost loved one or depression or whatever. Anything you can do to accept that something, whatever it is, as a part of the whole life bargain will up your quality of life immeasurably.”
